The Birthday of Steve's Father

Last Sunday was Father’s fiftieth birthday. Steve wanted to celebrate it for his father. So, he was going to make a delicious cake to thank him for his hard work. Steve spent a few hours to bake the cake.

Before Dad came home, Steve set the table and put a candle on the cake. Then, they stood around the table and waited for Dad. Suddenly, Dad came home. They sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Dad joyfully. Dad made a wish and blew out the candle. ‘This cake looks yummy!’ Dad said.

‘Of course! It’s made by me!’ Steve replied proudly.
They cut the cake and tasted their slice immediately. ‘Hm…it’s…quite…tasty!’ Dad exclaimed. Steve had a big bite and spit out. “Yuck…It’s disgusting! How come it’s so salty!’ Steve shouted.

At once, he knew that he mixed up sugar and salt by mistake. Despite this, Dad appreciated his effort. After all, they all had a good time.

True Friendship

Yesterday, John did something which made me unhappy. He carelessly broke my expensive pen. I felt furious at first and wanted to scold him seriously. However, I understood that it was not his intention to do that. So, I decided to forgive him.

To show that I was willing to forgive him, I approached him after the lesson and said, “Do worry!  It’s okay. I understand that you don’t mean to do that.”  Hearing that, John was very touched and patted my shoulder. “You are really my best friend!” John said and smiled to me.
